Course Description:
The first half of the race will follow the exact description as the 4.3mi Race.
Once crossing the start line for the 2nd time, runners will continue 3/4 around the high school track and exit through open gates. a 2-lane dirt track around the softball fence leads to the community vegetable garden. Runners turn right and continue to a road crossing over Hibernia Drive. The will follow the left sidewalk approximately 200m to the Entrance of the Wellness Trail. This single track carries for 1/4mi and emerges at the main road crossing of Memorial Drive. Here a marshall will direct you to the entrance of the Bear Mountain Trail.
The Bear Mountain Trail starts off with a 250ft climb over 0.8mi. However, once again toward the start of the climb there is a direction arrow. Competitors MUST TURN RIGHT to follow the CCW Course Route. Once at the top, runners will continue on to the Shoal Harbour Trail and the the Duck Pond Trail, all of which is Single Track. A well-marked left hand turn will guide runners back down the mountain rather than enroute to Bonavista! This turn will continue the loop back toward the entrance of the Bear Mountain Trail.
Runners now must look to Marshalls again for a safe pass across Memorial Drive. This will lead to a familiar path back to the High School Track Gate to finish a 60m sprint to the finish line!

Two-way traffic sections:
One occurs 1.2miles into the race, however it is highly unlikely that two-way traffic will exist here.
The other is a 1 mile stretch in which it is highly likely to experience two-way traffic. This would occur at 4.5mi-5.5mi for runners travelling at a slower pace(From the High School Gate to Bear Mountain Entrance). In both cases, yield to the leading runner. The Trail will be marked when the potential of two way traffic exists.
